Blackmores Pregnancy and Breast-Feeding Formula provides folate which is recommended one month prior to conception for all women planning pregnancy. This should continue through the first 3 months of pregnancy. In the early stages of pregnancy, folate plays a vital role in the prevention of brain and spinal cord defects such as spina bifida. Recent research has shown that omega-3 long chain fatty acids are essential for babies’ health. DHA - the main long chain fatty acid in breast milk and also present in tuna oil - is particularly important for the normal function of the brain and nerves and for development of normal eyesight.

Medicine interactions
If taking tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, biphosphonates (osteoporosis drugs), thyroid hormone, methyldopa, carbidopa or levodopa or penicillamine separate doses by at least 2 hours. Calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron may decrease absorption and efficacy of these medications.
