How it works
Cold Defence For Kids is a vitamin and mineral combination which helps to maintain a healthy immune system, thus helping to reduce the risk of infection. It contains four vitamins (A, C, E, B5) and the mineral zinc which are all essential for healthy immune function. Vitamins A, C and E also have specific antioxidant activity, as well as being synergistic with each other (eg, vitamin E helps to protect vitamin A from oxidation, while in turn vitamin C helps to repair oxidized vitamin E). Vitamin A plays a vital role in the formation and maintenance of the epithelial cells lining the mucous membranes which form the body’s primary barrier to infections of the respiratory tract. Studies have shown that deficiencies of both zinc and vitamin A compromise immunocompetence.
Up to 70% of Australian boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 11 have a zinc intake less than the Recommended Dietary Intake, while up to 20% consume less than the RDI for vitamin A, according to Australian dietary surveys. Cold Defence For Kids also contains calcium and magnesium, which are needed for healthy growth.
Dosage
Children over four years: - Chew (do not swallow whole) one to two tablets daily with meals, or as professionally prescribed
Children under four years: - Not suitable for children under four years.

Medicine interactions
If taking tetracyclines or quinolone antiobiotics separate doses by at least 2 hours. Zinc, calcium and magnesium may decrease the absorption and efficacy of these medications.
