Natural options for Liver Disease

One of the greatest abilities of the Liver is that it can regenerate itself. This should provide a great deal of hope for anyone suffering from liver disease. There are a few things that you need to do in order to turn your scarred liver into a brand new healthy liver. Follow the steps below:

Start consuming Dandelion (that plant that probably grows all around your home). The leaves of the Dandelion plant can be picked, washed, and mixed in with your salads. But you can also find Dandelion tinctures or other forms of Dandelion extracts at your local health food store. Dandelion is extremely useful for the health of the liver and related organs and glands. (Note that a poorly functioning liver will only bring DOWN the function of other organs and glands). It has been used to successfully treat liver disease, such as hepatitis and liver insufficiency.

If you only had one choice for picking a natural cure for liver disease it should be Milk Thistle Seed Extract (…fortunately you have more than one choice, so why not use all of them, it will only speed up your healing). There are a few reasons why Milk Thistle Seed Extract (also referred to as “Mte”) is beneficial to the liver and liver regeneration. Firstly, it protects the liver from toxins. Toxins, like Alcohol (the number one cause of Cirrhosis), compete against Mte for space on the cell membrane of the liver…except they always lose against the much stronger Mte. If your liver has Mte (milk thistle seed extract) all around itself, therefore preventing harmful toxins from destroying the liver, then the liver actually has time to regenerate. Also, Mte increase protein synthesis, which means that it speeds up the regeneration of destroyed liver tissue.

Another huge benefit of Milk Thistle Seed Extract is its interference with the enterohepatic circulation. Now, you might be wondering what the enterohepatic circulation is? Toxins are constantly being cycled back in forth between the gastrointestinal tract and the liver. Each time the toxins pass by the liver, the liver gets damaged. However, Mte interrupts the first absorption of toxins and then it helps prevent the re-absorption when the toxins are recycled. Cells that are not yet poisoned are therefore protected and become sites for new liver cell growth. In time a full restoration of the liver can be achieved.

The next herb is Artichoke which has similar healing properties as Milk Thistle. That being said, use both Milk Thistle Seed Extract and Artichoke extract to heal a liver (along with a regular consumption of Dandelion extract). The human liver will regenerate itself, by using the above mentioned natural healers we can restore our livers faster. Don’t give in to taking pharmaceutical drugs they cause way too much damage to the liver, even if they are meant to heal your liver. Use natural cures and you will heal your liver faster, safer, and cheaper.

There are many other ways to speed up the recovery of your liver. Things like Acupuncture, Acupressure, Reflexology, Magnet Therapy, Essential Oils, Homeopathic Medicine, Home Remedies, Healing Crystals, and other Healing Herbs can all be used simultaneously to increase the restoration of the liver.

Homeopathy for Trauma

Q. I was recently in a pretty horrific car accident and have been receiving physiotherapy as my method of treatment. Unfortunately I cannot take the anti-inflammatory drugs my doctor prescribed me. What are my alternatives?

A. I’ve had the opportunity to work with thousands of people who have been in car accidents and other injuries. Accidents range in severity and so do the resulting injuries. All severe injuries including head injuries require immediate medical attention.

After a car accident, many patients visit the doctor for a full evaluation and to rule out any broken bones. In my experience, I’ve found that most people experience a certain amount of muscle pain, soreness, stiffness along with headaches, lack of concentration, nervousness, forgetfulness and difficult sleeping.

I feel that car accidents, even the mild ones, should be taken seriously. I recently attended a homeopathic medical conference in which a physician presented research which revealed that injuries from motor vehicle accidents occur in collisions as slow as 7-8 mph! In fact, these unseemingly simple traumas can progress to chronic problems. The use of homeopathic remedies can be used following an accident to minimize injury and speed up the healing process. Homeopathic remedies can even be used to treat conditions that happened months and even years ago.

The standard treatment for basic injuries incurred during a car accident include physical therapy as well as medicine. The most commonly prescribed medicines for sore muscles are the non steroidal anti-inflammatories (i.e. ibuprofen etc.). Not everyone can tolerate these medicines, as some of the side effects include ulcers, bleeding of the stomach, heartburn, rash and hepatitis.

Personally, I keep several remedies with me at all times. Following an injury begin taking the remedy that matches your symptoms. If you are under the care of a homeopath, contact your practitioner.

Arnica montana – ‘I’m fine!’

Arnica is the first medicine to use for any injury. Often the person says, ‘I’m okay.’ Arnica is useful for: bruises, swelling, muscle soreness, sprains and strains, falls and blows, overexertion from lifting, sports, or work. In addition, Arnica is useful for after-surgery swelling, and following dental procedures and surgery.

Aconitum napellus – ‘I’m gonna die!

Aconite is useful for the feeling of anxiety and panic from an accident or frightening or shocking events. This person is nervous, agitated and can’t sit still. This remedy can really be used during an S.O.S.!

Exercise

In addition to homeopathic treatment, exercise and physical treatments are an important element in the healing process. Physical therapy, massage therapy and chiropractic or osteopathic treatments can offer one a major amount of relief. Furthermore, exercise that accentuates stretching and relaxation techniques should be done. Yoga is an exceptional example of exercise that increases strength and flexibility which helps in reducing pain. Also yoga is suitable for people of all levels.

How Bach Flower Remedies Work

The Bach Flower Remedies and other Flower essences are not homeopathic, herbal or aromatic in their preparation. They are usually considered a form of energy medicine impacting on the emotions. The remedies work on an energetic level, similar to homeopathy, acupuncture and Reiki. They affect the mental and emotional parts of our being. The particles of the essences work in specific patterns.

Flower essences work to heal both physical, mental and emotional illness. Flower essences restore the inner balance by working on the vital force. The vital force is an inner force within the body that governs our strength and well-being. As we get sick or stressed our vital force weakens and therefore, the flower essences work on our vital force to strengthen it.

The Bach Flower Remedies work on our emotional level and although that state might release all sorts of emotions, it is important to get beyond the apparent symptoms in order to treat the underlying cause.  It is important to try to get exactly the right remedy. The Remedies do not of themselves affect the problem but rather allow the mind to shift to allow change to happen.

Sometimes to work out appropriate remedies it is beneficial to write down the emotions or feelings that are dominant, then break the list down further, e.g. if you have listed depression, the question may be asked, ‘How does that make you feel?’ – Answer may be angry, frightened, stressed etc.

Ultimately you usually end up with two or three dominant feelings/emotions to prescribe suitable remedies. Sometimes when you get to the base of the problem the other emotions dissipate. It is a good idea not to use more than 5 remedies in a mix.

Rescue Remedy is a combination of five Flower essences that is used in emergency situations to stabilize trauma situations. It can also be used to ease fear and anxiety and also to restore one’s state of calm and confidence.
