Fenugreek is a herb that has an ancient history. It is often used in today’s society as a flavouring herb in cooking, particularly in Indian curries. It also plays a major role in herbal healing.
Fenugreek has been found to have many uses, particularly for the digestive, respiratory and female reproductive systems. Properties that have been attributed to this versatile herb include expectorant, demulcent, laxative, nutritive and digestive tonic. It is also a galactagogue, meaning that it assists the secretion and flow of breast milk.
The diverse properties of this herb can make it useful in a range of conditions. In the gastrointestinal system the demulcent properties make it useful to relieve mucous membrane inflammation. As an expectorant it can be of assistance in mild lung congestion, and to assist in easing chronic coughs. Due to its tonic effects it can help assist digestion when taken approximately 20 minutes before food.
In addition to these its nutritive qualities make it a good addition when there is debility and convalescence in which digestion and nutrition are poor.
Therapeutic Use
This traditional herb has expectorant and soothing properties to help relieve temporary coughs. It also has galactogogue properties and may assist in stimulating the production of breast milk in nursing mothers.
Active Ingredients
Each ‘preservative free’ capsule contains 529mg of Trigonella foenum-graecum seed powder.
Dosage
For adults only: take two capsules with a meal three times daily.
