Red Clover is considered an "alterative" dermatological herb, known for its ability in assisting in the treatment of skin disorders. Red Clover combines well with Yellow Dock in this instance. In recent times Red Clover has become popular due to its "isoflavone properties". Part of the herb used is the flower.

During the Middle Ages Red Clover was used as a charm against witchcraft. In herbal medicine Red Clover is seen as an alterative, meaning that it assists detoxification through aiding lymphatic drainage and helping metabolism. It can be used for a variety of skin conditions, particularly those with dry flaky skin. In addition Red Clover is seen to have expectorant properties, helping to relieve temporary coughs and clear chest congestion.

Red Clover is one of the oldest agricultural crops and its likeness even appears on the clubs suit of playing cards. It has a history of use in both folklore and herbal medicine. The flowers are fragrant, and the blossoms or florets produce a mild, clover honey. The colours of these flowers vary and can include white, pink, purple, red yellow, and combinations of these.
